FERPA-oriented posture

VerbalCheck is designed to support FERPA-sensitive academic workflows by limiting access to authorized users, protecting stored academic records, and reducing unnecessary disclosure of student information.

Supporting controls

  • Role-based access for student, instructor, admin, and system functions.
  • Object-level authorization for submissions, interviews, response audio, and reports.
  • Authenticated delivery paths for protected files and audio where configured.
  • LMS integration controls for launch, assignment linking, and grade synchronization.
  • Session revocation for logout, deactivation, and role changes.

Institution responsibilities

FERPA compliance also depends on institution-side administrative controls, parent or eligible-student rights processes, user provisioning, staff training, local data governance, and contractual designation of service provider responsibilities.
